Cutting below this one describes the reason for introducing reading schemes. Look at the teachers at the top right front row of the picture - they look familiar to me.
In order to encourage the reading of good literature, Dr. Jackson, after wide consultation, has produced lists of books suitable for each form throughout the school. At the same time the Parents' Committee has made a grant of £30 to the Junior Library for the provision of such books. Each boy has received his list and a circular letter explaining the scheme has been sent to Parents. Thanks are also due to Miss Wallis, the Wellingborough Librarian, for issuing a list of suitable books available in the Public Library. Autumn Term 1947 Magazine
